Let Us Continue to Pray for Ukraine.

Dear CoaH,

The news about Russian President Putin is everywhere these days. Here we have a world leader who thinks and acts like someone who will live forever or has no tomorrow. The other day, he ordered 300,000 reservists to show up for his 'special military operation' in Ukraine. He also warned the West that Russia would use nuclear weapons if Russia's territory were threatened. No one has ever threatened Russia thus far, yet he is misleading his people into believing that the West is Russia's dire threat.

The Bible teaches us to pray for 'kings and all who are in high positions so that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life (1 Tim. 2:1-2). We need to pray for Putin right now because he thinks and acts in madness. He has also ordered a referendum in eastern Ukraine's Russian-occupied territories, where many Russian speakers live. He wants to turn them into Russian territory, just as they did when they occupied and held the referendum in Crimea in 2014. Once voted to belong to Russia, he could justify using nuclear weapons to defend the territory. The West has called it a sham.

Putin was born on October 7th, 1952. The Bible says that our years on earth are seventy and maybe eighty if we are strong. So, he will turn seventy in about two weeks. He should realize that he will not live forever and that he should not expose any more people to death. Unfortunately, in his madness, he has already caused 50,000 young Russians to die in the meaningless war and many more to sustain injuries. What about Ukrainians? Putin's dreadful ambition has resulted in so many lives displaced and lost. It will take years to rebuild the nation's infrastructure and buildings. It is so painful to watch.

Let us continue to pray for Ukraine. The country has suffered and lost so much since last February. Please pray that God will intervene and put a stop to Putin's madness. The world community must bring him to justice for all the wrongs he has done. Pray for peace and restoration in Ukraine.

Blessings,

Pastor Minho Song
