A Brief History of City On A Hill
Young Nak Church was founded in 1977, beginning with a handful of excited Korean immigrants. By the grace of God, we are becoming more like the church Christ wants us to be.
The English Ministry began in January of 1992 when the English-speaking adults separated from the youth to form the official English Ministry for adults. This was approved by the Young Nak Church session (board of elders) with the selection of five leaders, officially titled, "acting deacons" to lead the adult English Ministry with Rev. Minho Song as pastor. In 2015, the English Ministry was named City on a Hill (CoaH).
Currently, our congregation has approximately 300-350 members. We have 12 ordained deacons, 3 ordained elders, and 7 pastors faithfully serving this community.
St. James Town Campus
St. James Town (SJT) campus is a church that City on a Hill planted in order to reach the people of SJT, which is the most densely populated and one of the most ethnically diverse communities not only in Toronto, but all of Canada. SJT welcomes new immigrants almost daily to our great city and this diversity brings with it people from many countries and faith backgrounds. City on a Hill SJT Campus exists to serve and lead peoples near and far to become devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
