Easter is Here!
Dear CoaH,
Yes, we are about to celebrate Easter. I can sense growing anticipation for this coming Sunday when we will come together for Easter worship. We will celebrate that Jesus has risen from the dead. We will also partake in the breaking of the bread together. I can't wait.
Why such excitement? We have suffered so much in the past year or two. The pandemic has been very hard, from elderly to children, and the war in Ukraine added further grief. Every day we see the horrible images coming from the war zone, the indiscriminate killings, the news of rape, torture, and destruction. We witness the evil of Putin and his forces. We scarcely find the words to describe human depravity. How can people be so bad to others?
Then we go to the pump and realize that the suppliers added another five cents overnight to each litre of gasoline. They say the war in Ukraine is to blame. What we go through is nothing compared to what the people of Ukraine are up against. We should still be thankful that we live in a safe country.
You see where I am going with this pastoral letter. We need hope, and Jesus is the only hope we have. Easter means hope and that there is life after death and justice after all this evil. God will have the last word. Yes, God will punish Putin and his cronies. Easter settles every score right.
A family of crocuses greeted me the other day. How did they know that I was weary? I think they are the first flowers of Spring. I was so glad to see them. Yes, life is back. Jesus is back. We are back.
May the LORD bless you and keep you safe.
