Grateful for the Easter Worship Service

Dear CoaH,

I must say that the last Sunday's worship service was so incredible. For the first time since the pandemic, it felt like the church was full of members coming back for the Easter service. When there were baptisms and confirmations, it was so assuring that God's work would continue no matter how disruptive the pandemic had been. What about the communion we had afterward? The last time we broke bread together was in January of 2020. That is right. It was great to be back with brothers and sisters to share God's love.

Having a joint service with the Korean worshippers was also amazing. When I looked at them in the main sanctuary, I was grateful. They were back in the main chapel they had been worshipping all along. I was so thankful to them for going to the Vision Chapel at the request of the Session to accommodate the English-speaking members. What about the choir? The Immanuel Choir also reduced its size when it moved to the Vision Chapel. But the choir added fifteen members from Coah for the special occasion. What a fantastic idea and how befitting it is of the interdependent model we are pursuing! The service was also richer because our children and youth joined us. So, the Easter worship was not only the joint one between two language congregations but also the intergenerational one.

The best part of the service was the Easter message that Christ rose from the dead and erased the boundary between life and death. Yes, Jesus Christ has power over sin and death. We ought to live with confidence in the resurrection power of Jesus. No matter what suffering or trial life may bring, we can be confident that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.

Let me leave with you the question Jesus raised to Martha.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)

May the LORD bless you and keep you safe.
