Pray for Ukraine
Dear CoaH,
Until February 24th, most of us knew little about Ukraine, except the capital city Kyiv and the nuclear disaster site of Chernobyl. But things are very different now. We have heard numerous times about what happened in Mariupol, Kharkiv, and Bucha. The images coming from these cities are horrendous. I will never forget the image of the rescue workers carrying out a pregnant woman on a stretcher from a bombed maternity hospital in Mariupol, nor will I forget the bodies of civilians lying on the streets of Bucha. Putin and his aggressors will go down in history as evil men in the company of Stalin, Hitler, and the like.
The Council of Korean Churches in Ontario, the Korean Pastors’ Association, and the office of the Honorable Raymond Cho, MPP, are organizing a prayer meeting. It will take place at our church this Sunday at 5 pm. Many church leaders and government leaders will attend, including the Consulate General of Ukraine in Toronto. The Session has also decided to collect a special offering to help Ukraine refugees. The collection will be made on April 10th and 17th Sunday and sent through the World Vision Canada. I encourage you to help as much as you can.
Today, more than ten million Ukrainians have been displaced, four million in neighboring countries. We are upset because one sovereign nation has blatantly ignored international law and invaded and inflicted so much pain and destruction on another sovereign state for no apparent justification. We are upset because the invaders are full of deception, lies, and propaganda. We are upset because Putin has so much power over his people that he can get away with lies and manipulations.
We look forward to a day when there will be no more war on earth. Instead of building expensive aircraft and anti-aircraft rockets, I pray that nations will unite in peace and harmony. Instead of spending so much money on tanks and anti-tank missiles, I pray that the nations will work together on responding to global warming and the pandemic. Let us pray that the war in Ukraine is over soon.
May the LORD bless you and keep you safe.
