Is your prayer fueled by faith?
Dear COAH,
When it comes to our prayer life, it is essential to have the conviction that God hears our prayers and that He cares enough to answer our prayers. How God answers our prayers may not be to our desires and wishes. But there is no question that God hears us. He hears our prayers and answers them in His own way and time. Therefore, we must have faith in God whenever we come to Him in prayer.
Hudson Taylor understood the principles of prayer earlier on in his life. He learned that God is the source of all supplies. The young Hudson needed to trust God completely for everything in his life. When he needed more workers to send to China's vast, untouched interior regions, he knew that people would not readily respond to the call. There was a genuine fear among the would-be missionaries that once they left the protected mission compound for the interior, they would face all sorts of indigenous diseases, loneliness, and dangers (from mobs and those who mistrusted foreigners), among other reasons.
So, Hudson persevered in his prayers and trusted in God for all his needs. He often tried to calm his spirit with these words, 'God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply.' He learned this principle of ‘faith mission’ from his mentor, George Muller, who ran the orphanage in Bristol, England, primarily by prayer. Yes, that is right. He prayed to God for the supplies and provisions for the hundreds of orphans he cared for, and God supplied all his needs. We know what happened to Hudson Taylor's prayers. God met all his needs, including hundreds of missionaries to send to the interior and all the financial needs of the mission.
What should be the basis for our supplication? It should be our conviction that God cares for us and knows what is best for us. It is also the unwavering conviction that God answers our prayers, not in our way but in His way. So, brothers and sisters, keep praying. God will answer our prayers and show His mighty power. God wants to use His people and through them He wants to heal the sick, mend the broken hearts and relationships, and lead lost souls to Jesus Christ.
Keep praying and have faith in God!
Blessings,
Pastor Minho Song
