It is Time to Get Back to the Lord.

I am in New Jersey this weekend at the invitation of the NJ Korean Presbyterian Church. The senior pastor asked me to come and give four messages on the missional church. I know many pastors who are trying hard to bring their congregations out of the effects of the pandemic. Two and a half years of the pandemic have done a lot of damage to both individual spirituality and congregational health. I can think of at least two serious symptoms: spiritual apathy and interest in worldly things.

When the church was in full swing of things back in 2019, it was relatively easy to tell who was in and who was not, spiritually speaking. But the prolonging pandemic has blurred that line and made it rather difficult to tell. My intuition is that all of us have suffered a certain setback. I am particularly concerned with those who have been worshipping online only and have not been coming out at all. If this is you, you need to get back.

I am glad that many people are going to the college retreat this coming week (some career members also joining). I pray that this retreat will spark a new passion for Jesus, especially as the college members are going back to their campuses. We all know how hard it is to keep one’s faith in a secular university setting. May the Lord speak powerfully through pastor Kyu and also through other pastors.

May the Lord bless you!

Pastor Minho Song
