Worship with a Thankful Heart
There was a time during the pandemic when we couldn't come to church because we had to maintain social distancing. Remember those dark days when we couldn't worship in person, so we worshipped online instead? We longed for the worship services in the church and hoped the pandemic would end soon.
When the pandemic finally ended after more than two years, we were overjoyed to gather for in-person worship again. The unity of the congregation singing together was a powerful reminder of the warmth and joy of communal worship. I remember being so overwhelmed with emotion that I was almost moved to tears.
After a few months, however, we quickly got used to the idea of in-person worship again. Those times when we craved 'real' worship were now a distant memory. What we must be careful of is that our weekly worship services do not become habitual.
Today is Thanksgiving Sunday, and I hope we can all come before God with great anticipation. As the Psalmist says, "Let us come before Him with a thankful heart." We no longer have to worship at home online. For those of you who continue to choose to go online (unless you have mobility issues), we encourage you to make up your mind soon and decide to worship with us in person. Once you choose to come back, the second and third times will be easier.
Today, let us come before the Lord with a heart full of gratitude. Let us thank God for His unfailing love (hesed) that sustains us. This Thanksgiving, let our hearts overflow with appreciation for His blessings. Happy Thanksgiving!
Blessings,
Pastor Minho Song
