Power Outage

Dear COAH,

In light of this week’s power outage, let me take a moment to review the history of our building. In 1996, we purchased our current building from a computer company and tore down the building on the McNicoll entrance side to build our current sanctuary and gymnasium. The education wing and offices on the Victoria side of the entrance retain the structure of what the computer company built, but the interior has been completely renovated.

The cause of the power outage last week was a blown primary transformer, which was installed by the previous owner of the building, a computer company, to support the massive power needs of the building. We will be calling in a specialist contractor to get the power restored as soon as possible, so please pray for this.

When I think of our church building, I think of the many members who have given themselves unselfishly through prayer, giving, and service to make it what it is today. They are now in the Lord's presence. Because of their labor of love, the community of Young Nak exists today. In 1996, under the leadership of our second senior pastor, Rev. Lee Suk-hwan, and Elder Lee Chang-myung, the chair of the building committee, many church members worked together to build our current building. From collecting the endless electrical cords that were abandoned by the computer company, to knocking down walls to make classrooms, many saints came to the church after work to volunteer. In 2011, we finally paid off all our mortgages and had our dedication service. We should remember the dedication of so many of our members who worked so hard.

As I prepare to retire at the end of this year, I find myself taking the time to reflect and look back at the past. It is because of the dedication of the past saints that today's Young Nak exists. When Young Nak community stay healthy and focused, our community will be bright tomorrow. While not forgetting our history, let us be faithful to the present and prepare for the future.

Blessings,

Pastor Minho Song
